According to Geoff Phillips, owner of Noosa Bluewater Charters, the fishing off Noosa is always good, however winter is an ideal time to experience a charter fishing experience in Noosa.
In the cooler winter months you can expect to find fish such as mackerel, tuna and mahi mahi being present in Noosa’s Laguna Bay in large numbers.
Noosa Bluewater Charters operates three fishing charters on a daily basis heading out between 6-6.30am. Guests can choose from a 5-hour tour ($160), a 7-hour tour ($200), and a 9-hour tour ($240). Your bait and tackle, food and refreshments, cold water and soft drinks and even sunscreen are all provided. Just bring a hat, sunglasses and a camera to record those big catches!
While the fishing is good on all of the tours, the 9-hour tour is the best option, according to Geoff.
“It allows us a longer travel time and the chance to get to locations out past where the recreational guys normally go”, he says. “This means there’s less chance areas have been over-fished.
“Anyone who catches a fish gets to keep what they catch and generally bag limits don’t apply because the number of people on the boat means we have a large quota,” says Geoff. Tours are open to everyone, from beginners to expert anglers, including children.
