What strikes me about a visit to Visit Perfect Peregian is what is here as much as what isn’t. No crowds, no high-rise and no absolute beachfront. This is in lieu of generous parks and bushland reserves buffering the developed areas and the beach.

And what a beach! It must be over 100 metres wide when the tide’s out and sparsely populated especially in the off-peak periods. There’s great views up to Sunshine Beach to the north and Coolum to the south. We were even treated to a pod of Humpbacks breaching on the horizon, clearly visible from the beach.

Peregian township itself buzzes with activity but still retains its quiet coastal village charm. The parkland beside the beach includes a shady playground for little ones, and a skate park and basketball half-court for the bigger kids.

There’s also boutique shopping with creative home and gift ware stores, and a superb selection of cafes and restaurants.

These include a couple of Noosa’s well-known eateries, Zachery’s Pizza Bar and Raw Café that have now expanded south to Peregian. They join a variety of other locales including Pitchfork (which everyone raves about for good reason), and Wahoo Seafood Restaurant for local seafood.

The Peregian Markets are held every first and third Sunday of the Month and are well worth the experience. Top points go to the Peregian Originals that sees local musos performing only original music in Peregian Beach Park on the second Sunday of each month from 1-5pm.
